Sylivia Becker-Dreps et. al. published their findings on a Tdap vaccine study in last week’s American Journal of Preventative Medicine.  They reviewed 675,167 mother-infant pairs cohort for Tdap immunization status.  Pertussis rates were lower in infants whose mothers received the Tdap vaccine during the third trimester of pregnancy.  Those infants whose mothers received Tdap vaccine at <27weeks did not show reduction in pertussis rates.  Tdap vaccine is recommended for women during pregnancy, specifically during the 27- 36 weeks’ gestation.
