Universal flu vaccine research received another shot in the arm from the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation and the Lucy and Larry Page family. This announcement was made on April 27th during the annual meeting of the Massachusetts Medical Society. Bill Gates presented the challenge to speed the development of a universal influenza vaccine. In his speech he shared the need for global preparedness for pandemic threats.
